The Tanzer has proven to be a great way to wile away a day, especially in the hot weather with kids. We sailed to Center Island with Jamie and Joanne – it was great to dock over at Hanlan’s wall for a bbq, and then sail over to the Center Island wall. The West side had a sailing school docked so we had to wait a few minutes to get in. Behind where we moored it is very shallow, even with our 4′ draft, so there is really only room for two boats on this side, even with the high water level at this time of year. You can moor on the other side of the wall but you have to approach from the RCYC side.
It was great to arrive relaxed, have lunch and to just walk off in the middle of the park. We didn’t have to lug knapsacks etc. or travel with the hordes on the ferry. Very civilized.
Sunset dinner was great with Paul, Victoria and Connor. We anchored off Ward’s Island beach and took the dingy in. Dinner was a bit crunchy with sand, but the kids loved splashing in the water. The motor died and I towed us in with my 2hp dinghy – I think Paul was quite amused and enjoyed being captain. We were actually passed by a couple in a canoe…. but at least it was sunset and dead calm, so all rather benign and slightly amusing.
